Experience My involvement with the construction industry enables me to bring a wealth of hands-on experience to initially understand quite how and why disputes originate, and then to provide a basis for a better understanding of how the dispute might be resolved.
Having been in a position of a Managing Director of a construction/development company, I can understand that often an objective and independent assessment of performance is extremely valuable.
I administer a travel industry arbitration documents only settlement service through Dispute Settlement Services Ltd.
What I can offer
I can act for both claimant and defendant.
As a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (- and as a magistrate), I have been trained to respect that there are always two sides to every dispute and that an open, receptive mind is required.
If litigation has already been instigated, then I am able to represent either claimant or defendant with my thorough knowledge of the industry and my practical approach to disputes.
Report writing and reasoned decisions form part of my work experience.
My initial reaction to the possible introduction of solicitors into helping to resolve a construction dispute is to explore if there are any viable alternative dispute resolution options available. An insistence of a 'day in Court' attitude to dispute resolution may not always represent the best way forward.
My philosophy to dispute resolution is to try at all times to maintain a dialogue between the parties to the dispute and if litigation can be avoided, then to hopefully resolve the dispute through some form of mediation.
